Specialized Psychiatric Services for the Individuals We Serve

Behavioral Health disorders can affect everyone.  If a person also has a intellectual disability, it can be particularly challenging to receive appropriate treatment.

At Fitzmaurice Community Services, a team model of treatment is offered that allows the patient with intellectual disabilities to meet with the doctor surrounded by their support team.  The team members help the patient to effectively communicate the issues, follow up on recommendations, and report progress or ongoing issues.

The support team is different for each patient, and can consist of parents, teachers, day service providers, social workers, and anyone else that the patient feels can add support.
